IslamWorldHQ is an independent English-language site that explains Islamic topics for general readers. This page explains who runs it, how its articles are made, and the standards it holds itself to.
Mission
To give Muslims and curious readers clear, sourced, respectful explanations of everyday Islamic topics, with honest limits and no sectarian arguments.
Ownership and funding
IslamWorldHQ is owned and run by OBY and is based in the Netherlands. It is funded by advertising. No company, organisation or person pays for coverage or has any say over what we publish.
Who is behind it
The editor is OBY. The editor sets the rules the writing system follows, reviews articles, and corrects mistakes. The editor is not a scholar and does not issue fatwas. Contact: hello@islamworldhq.com.
How articles are made
Articles on IslamWorldHQ are written with AI assistance and reviewed by a human editor. Here is the process.
- Every day, the system picks the next topic from a fixed rotation of duas, Umrah, heritage and zakat topics. Before Ramadan, Eid, Dhul Hijjah, Muharram and other times of the year, it writes seasonal articles ahead of time.
- It researches the topic on the web, giving priority to classical and well-established sources, then writes the article using Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic.
- Quran verses and hadith are never typed by the AI. The system asks for a reference, then fetches the real text from a verified copy, and checks that the text matches the topic before it is used.
- Automatic checks run before posting. An article that is too short, unfinished, types its own Arabic, quotes a hadith from any book other than Sahih al-Bukhari or Sahih Muslim, or gives a ruling in the site’s own voice is not posted.
- The article is posted to the site.
- A human editor reviews articles, usually the next morning, corrects mistakes, and adds a dated note to any article that changes.
Read with care
AI writing gets facts wrong with total confidence, and human review can’t catch every error. A mistake can stay up until the editor spots it or you tell us. For any religious question that matters to you, ask a qualified scholar.
How we treat the four schools
We follow the mainstream Sunni schools. Where the Hanafi, Shafi’i, Maliki and Hanbali schools differ, we show each position and its main evidence side by side. We do not rank them, and we do not give our own fatwa.
Topic pages
The Topics section lets readers search a subject and see the Quran verses and the hadith on it. The system asks Claude which texts belong to a topic. It never types a verse or hadith itself: the robot fetches the real Arabic and English from a verified copy, checks that the text contains the key words expected, and drops any text that fails the check. Only Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim are used for hadith. The pages carry no commentary and no rulings. A human editor reviews the pages and corrects mistakes.
Sources and attribution
Quran verses use the Arabic text with the Sahih International translation. Hadith are quoted only from Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, with a link to the report. Every article ends with a list of sources, linked, with primary and classical sources first.
Dates and numbers
Dates of Islamic months and events are expected dates from the Umm al-Qura calendar and can differ by a day depending on moon sighting. Prayer times in our timetables are calculated and the method is stated. We don’t quote prices of flights, hotels or packages. Where we mention a fee or an entry rule, we tell you to check the official source.
Images
We don’t show people in our pictures. We never draw a prophet or a Companion, and we don’t use computer-made pictures of the Kaaba or the Prophet’s Mosque. Images credited to Wikimedia Commons are real, licensed photographs. Images marked “AI-generated image” are created with Google Gemini and show generic objects and scenes. Images credited to Pixabay are real stock photos.
Corrections
If you find an error, tell us through the contact page. Corrections are made the same day, with a dated note at the bottom of the article explaining what changed. We don’t quietly edit and pretend it never happened.
What we don’t do
- No fatwas and no personal religious advice.
- No sponsored articles dressed up as editorial.
- No paid links and no guest posts.
- No investment tips and no recommending of banks, funds or apps.
- No arguments against other Muslims, groups or sects.
